Anonymous. With care.
Looseword is a place to be honest about campus life. It works when we leave room for other people’s dignity.
Talk about your experience.
Confess, vent, ask for advice, celebrate a small win. Be specific about your feelings, and thoughtful about anyone else involved.
Keep other people’s identities out.
Do not share names, handles, contact details, schedules, room numbers, private messages, or combinations of details that identify someone. A crush post must not become a way to track or target a person. Be especially careful in residences, small classes, departments, and clubs, where a few details can identify someone without a name.
No harassment, threats, or hate.
We do not publish targeted abuse, discrimination, intimidation, sexual exploitation, explicit sexual material, or encouragement of harm. No allegations identifying private people, spam, impersonation, or attempts to sell access to accounts.
Every submission gets a review.
Posts and replies enter a private queue. Moderators can approve, reject, or remove content, and suspend linked accounts. Guest confessions have no linked account to suspend, so they also use verification, network limits, and a bounded review queue. Posting the same thing repeatedly will not speed up review. Limits apply to posts, replies, reactions, and reports.
Choose the right community.
Share with the campus, residence, faculty, department, or other open community that fits your story. A listing marked coming soon is not open for submissions. Choosing a community does not prove membership or give you permission to speak on its behalf.
Keep a guest receipt private.
Guest confessions do not need an account when that option is available. Save the private receipt to check or withdraw yours. Anyone with the receipt can manage that submission, so share the public post link instead. Replies, reactions, and reports require a private account.
Look out for each other.
Sign in and use the flag beside a post or reply to report a concern. Reports are private and go to moderators. Reports do not automatically establish wrongdoing. The privacy page lists a contact for concerns you cannot report through the site.
This is a community, not emergency support.
Reports are not monitored continuously. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. Avoid sharing identifying details in an attempt to get help through the feed.
Who this space is for.
Looseword is for adults aged 18 and over. The open communities currently focus on UBC; other institutions may be listed as coming soon. Signing in or completing a guest verification does not verify university enrollment, residence, or membership. Looseword is independently operated and is not affiliated with the institutions or communities listed.
